Nature and Scope of Work This position is responsible for supporting users in maintaining their content on Capilano University web content management systems. The position provides guidance to departmental editors with web presentation and content. It also provides training or documentation as required to support editors. The position may provide Tier 1 and 2 support for users of the University’s content management systems. The Web Editor reports to a Director or Manager.

Key Responsibilities – Support users in preparing and designing content for web sites hosted in the University content management systems in conjunction with Web Developers

– Edits content based on departmental need in situations where the department lacks the appropriate skills or requires the use of complex content types or add-ons.

-Prepares documentation for content management systems to assist users in using such systems effectively.

– Prepares and delivers introductory and intermediate training for end-users on the University’s content management systems.

– Assists in the publication of specialized content, such as the University course catalogue, that is outside a content management system or supports a web-based application.

– Performs link checking to identify broken links to sites.

– Runs reports to analyze the age and quality of site content.

– Advises and assists users in configuring web analytics for their sites.

– Uses the University’s IT Service Management system to monitor and log incidents, problems and service requests.

– Maintains and publishes a knowledgebase of known problems and their solutions with the University’s Content Management systems to assist in the support of end-users.

– May be required to take training and act in the capacity of a floor warden as part of the University’s Emergency Preparedness Plan (Fire, W.H.M.I.S., Earthquake).

– Performs duties related to the requirements and qualifications of the position.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: – Considerable knowledge of editing web sites using a content management system.

– Considerable knowledge of writing for the web.

– Considerable knowledge of preparing user documentation.

– Considerable knowledge of training end-users.

– Working knowledge of HTML, HTML5, XML, CSS, JavaScript and Image Editing.

– Working knowledge of responsive design.

– Ability to work with users with many different levels of skill in editing web content.

– Ability to multi-task, with strong time management skills.

– Familiarity with knowledge systems and learning management systems is an asset.
Required Qualifications & Experience – Completion of a two-year diploma or program in a related field.

– 2 years of experience as a web editor using a content management system.

– ITIL Foundation 3 certification.
Required Licenses, Certificates & Registration None.
Will hours include evenings, weekends, or non-standard work weeks?

Days and Hours of Work Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 4:00. May be required to work outside of these hours, dependent on the department.

Salary Range $4,038 – $4,542 per month
