Full-Time Sales & Marketing Manager – SIS

The Sales & Marketing Manager will lead a team of sales and marketing professionals to achieve the revenue expectations of the company’s Student Information Systems (SIS) and Library Management Software (L4U) divisions. In this role you will build strong relationships in the customer base and across the market to maintain a clear understanding of new opportunities and threats. With the other members of the senior team you will determine and execute strategies that will ensure the ongoing profitability and growth of the business in its selected markets.
Qualified Candidates must be able to…
Manage the activities and performance of the SIS Sales Team.
Determine appropriate territory assignments and sales quotas on an annual basis.
Ensure the sales teams have account plans and territory plans that focus their activities on achieving sales objectives.
Monitor and coach the SIS Sales Team to achieve the appropriate balance of sales activities to provide a steady and predictable volume of closed sales.
Support the SIS Sales Team through participating in sales calls and demonstrations, including preparation and debriefing.
Establish a business relationship with key managers, decision makers and executives within the market.
Manage the activities of the SIS Marketing Team.
Develop marketing strategies and programs to establish the desired image for the company and drive new sales leads.
Expand the reach of company messaging to encompass all customer influencers and stakeholders – executive, technical, financial, end user.
Drive the steady flow of customer and market communications to ensure the company is top of mind in selected markets.
Manage the marketing budget to ensure the optimum spend and mix of activity in traditional and online media, social media, conferences/trade shows, sales collateral and promotions.
Bring new product opportunities to the attention of SIS Product Management and provide sales and pricing estimates to support the business case for these new products.
Interpret competitive marketing environment to ensure company has continued progress in terms of market share and sales revenues. Recommend and initiate competitive market watch process to secure position by evaluating and analyzing competitive action, economic and customer trends.
Build and maintain relationships with regional and state agencies as required and major education associations to represent SRB products at appropriate decision making levels and establish SRB products as industry standard.
Manage current and new partners to negotiate and secure revenues that justify investing in these relationships.
Work with other senior leaders to identify and plan entry to new markets to drive long term growth.
The position can be located in either of our offices in Markham, ON and Kelowna, BC or your home-based office within Canada. Regular travel is required, on average two times per month for 2-5 days, as well as day trips to more accessible customer locations.
You possess the following qualifications:
B.A. or B.S. degree in business, marketing, technology, public administration or related field, M.B.A. a plus, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
5+ years of complex sales experience (multiple decision makers and influencers), preferably in the education market.
2+ years leading a team of sales and marketing professionals.
Demonstrated ability to lead a team to exceed annual revenue objective on a consistent basis (minimum 2 of last 3 years).
And the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Effective coach of sales and marketing professionals with differing personal styles and at different stages of their careers.
Strong understanding of the selling process and how to manage it proactively to achieve results.
Managing long and complex sales cycles to a successful outcome. Experience in structured sales methodologies (e.g., Miller Heiman, Sandler).
In-depth knowledge of educational roles and functions and of decision making structures and processes in the K-12 education environment.
Passionate about satisfying your customer and customer relationship building experience.
Driven to succeed.
Strong self-organization and process planning and coordination skills.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Dynamic presentation, public speaking and organizational skills (present well to senior executives and business decision-makers).
Technically adept with a working level understanding of Internet technology, Software as a Service (SaaS), software development requirements and cycles.
Ability to understand and help formulate customer requirements and translate them into effective and efficient SRB solutions.
Principles and applications of techniques for online or internet marketing.
Ability to travel as required.
